Adept Care Homes has been handed the keys to its latest project – a £7.8 million care home in Derby, built by Notts based specialist care home builder, Wynbrook Care Homes.
Kiwi House has the facilities of a luxury hotel. From whirlpool baths and easy access en-suite wet rooms to ‘Flicks’ cinema and a pub called the ‘Horse and Hound’, this new care home promises its residents everything possible to ensure they can enjoy an active social life.
Residents will live in one of six suites, occupied by up to 13 people. Each suite has its own lounge, dining room and lifestyle kitchen, where residents can get involved in setting up for meal times or make their own tea, coffee and snacks. Outside there are carefully landscaped gardens which over look Kiwi park. Keen gardeners are encouraged to help to maintain the gardens, or residents can simply wander around and enjoy the tranquility and parkland views.
Wynbrook director Steve Day said: “Kiwi House really is one of the most progressive and modern care homes we have built. As the UK population gets older, trends show that we may outlive our family and friends, and therefore our social circle diminishes. Adept have clearly recognised this and provided an environment where residents can remain socially active and as well as access support of care professionals as and when they need.”
Dave Lock, managing director of Adept Care Homes said: “Wynbrook has helped us turn an architectural drawing into reality. We are delighted with the finished care home and feedback from the first residents to live here has been really positive as they see the same team members every day and receive intimate personal care and attention.”
Kiwi House will be officially opened in September by Angela Rippon.
