Care provider, Greensleeves Homes Trust has awarded a contract to Pelican, the procurement and supply chain management specialist, to manage the complete purchasing, category management and supply chain coordination for food products across the organisation.
With 17 residential and nursing care homes located across the Midlands, Southern and Eastern England, Greensleeves has appointed Pelican in order to centrally review and manage food expenditure, and to implement new service level agreements with Greensleeves’ preferred food supplier.
Geoff Almond, financial controller at Greensleeves Homes Trust said: “We moved our food procurement to Pelican as it was clear they provide a range of services that would not only enable us to centralise and coordinate our food purchasing, but also set improved pricing agreements and terms, implement renewed SLAs and ultimately help me keep a closer eye on spending. Working with Pelican is just better business practice as far as I am concerned, and already they are delivering real value to our organisation.”
On being awarded the contract, Pelican undertook a process of supplier retendering, which saw the incumbent food supplier, 3663, being awarded a renewed contract for the supply of grocery, frozen and chilled produce. Additional projects that are being phased in include rationalising price lists, reviewing individual food categories and menu development via Pelican’s nutritional analysis system, Relish.
