In his budget, the chancellor Philip Hammond has announced £2 billion of extra funding for social care over the next three years. He said that £1 billion of it will be available in the 2017-18 year.
He also announced that the government would be producing a Green Paper later this year with plans for the future of funding social care. He said their plans would not include a ‘death tax’ as previously proposed by the Labour Party.
Reaction to Mr Hammond’s announcement will follow.
