Benvie Care Home has been acquired by Holistic Elderly Care, with support from Royal Bank of Scotland.
The Dundee care home will now be owned and independently managed by Ewan Findlay, who has more than 30 years’ experience in the care sector. He previously owned Bridgeview Care Home and has since spent time on the board of the Scottish Care committee and as an independent consultant.
Opened in 1994, Benvie Care Home is a purpose built facility providing nursing and dementia care to around 60 people. The home prides itself on its person centred care and holistic approach taken towards all service users.
As part of the acquisition all current staff will be upskilled and specially trained in the care of service users with dementia. Mr Findlay also anticipates recruiting more specialists in the future, bringing the total number of full and part-time employees to 75. Significant investment will allow Benvie to be refurbished over the next 12 months.
Earlier this year the home was hailed for the high quality of care it provides by the Care Inspectorate though an unannounced inspection. The current team will continue be led by Jasmine Ali, home manager, who has successfully managed Benvie for more than five years.
Ewan Findlay said: “It’s a testament to the hard work of the current team that Benvie continues to be rated so highly by the Care Inspectorate. I’m excited to be taking ownership of the home at this time and to work with the team to build on recent successes. We aim to invest substantial sums to make Benvie as comfortable as possible for patients and to ensure the care provided continues to excel.”
