Meallmore, one of Scotland’s leading providers of nursing and residential care, has launched learning and development videos which feature both staff and residents in starring roles.
The instructional videos have been created and produced to help staff development. They include how to assist residents with their personal hygiene, how to improve the mealtime experience and what to do if a resident falls. Each video places an emphasis on performing care responsibilities safely and respectfully, while ensuring residents are as comfortable as possible.
The videos were produced in-house at both The Oaks and Antonine House, with Meallmore trainers turning their hands to script-writing, and providing the subject matter and voiceover lines for each of the videos.
Karen MacDonald, learning and development manager, explained: “At Meallmore, we place a great importance on ensuring the skills of our staff are right up to date, which involves a mix of on and off-site training. We thought that instruction videos starring some recognisable faces would be a great way of helping our team members learn in a fun and engaging manner.
“Everyone had a great time making the videos and involving staff and residents has really helped to give the videos a personal feel.”
Since Meallmore’s eLearning platform launched in 2014, over 1500 employees have used the online platform to improve their skills base and understanding.
Karen explains: “The online platforms are ideal for our employees as it allows them access to additional learning courses, both for their own personal development, as well as mandatory courses which their role requires.
“Our online library is full of learning resources, such as podcast, videos, fact sheets and links to other learning resources. Last year alone, there were over 18,000 eLearning courses accessed by our employees, on top of the additional training we provide via video conferencing, webinars and traditional workshops.”
