Wales takes further step towards anti-racist nation by 2030

Social Care Wales is running a panel session about the Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES).

Representatives from the Welsh Government and Social Care Wales will be on Zoom to introduce the Workforce Race Equality Standard and discuss how it can be used to drive cultural change across social care in Wales.

The event will take place from 2pm to 3pm on Thursday 8 February. Register online

WRES aims to correct historically poor workforce data on racial disparities including the following:

  • Recruitment and promotion processes that are often discriminatory toward ethnic minority groups
  • Higher proportion of ethnic minority staff reporting bullying harassment or racial abuse
  • Staff not feeling safe to speak up against racist discrimination and practices
  • Lack of appropriate anti-racist mandatory training.

The aim is to make Wales an anti-racist nation by 2030.
