Residents in all brighterkind care homes, part of the Four Seasons group, will be able to take part in a new programme of recreational activities and exercise classes that are designed to be an enjoyable way of improving their health and wellbeing.
brighterkind has signed a national partnership agreement with Oomph, the UK's largest provider of fun activities programmes for older people.
Under the agreement the manager and two activities organisers in more than 70 brighterkind homes will complete training with Oomph for Activities and Exercise Licences, equipping them to deliver imaginative and enjoyable activities that support physical and mental wellbeing. The programme of activities, which will carry the name Magic Moments, will be designed in conjunction with Oomph.
The partnership follows a successful pilot in 15 brighterkind homes, which showed a significant beneficial effect for residents. Those residents who participated in the recreational activities and exercise classes gave them a resounding endorsement, with 95% saying the sessions had a positive impact on their health and all respondents saying they made them feel happy.
Jeremy Richardson, chief executive of brighterkind said: “All our homes will offer activities that promote physical, mental and emotional wellness and, above all, that people find enjoyable and want to join in. The brighterkind residents and their relatives are consulted about the activities programmes.”
