Old Rectory, Swanage

Three south west care homes enter administration amid financial difficulties

Two companies which operate three care homes in the south of England have been placed into administration.

Hantona Ltd, which operates the Old Rectory in Swanage and Delph House in Poole, and Warwick Park House Ltd which runs the Warwick Park Care Home in Plymouth, have announced that they are to cease trading after running into financial difficulties.

Seven residents currently remain at the Old Rectory, 11 at Delph House and 21 at Warwick Park, however the homes will remain open until all residents have been relocated. Jacqueline Haigh is the sole director of both companies. Insolvency firm Bridgewood has been appointed as administrators.

Both operating companies have announced plans to cease trading at the homes, but the administrators say they will “continue to explore all possible options.”

Bridgewood is part of the Dow Schofield Watts business advisory network.

  • In its response to the Provisional Local Government Finance Settlement Consultation 2024/25, Adass cites research showing that profit levels for care homes for older people are close to the lowest level since 2015, with the most significant financial pressures around specialist providers. It also highlights the significant impact of National Living Wage (NLW) increases from April 2024.
