Care England has called on Government to define funding guidance given to local authorities rather than allow them to use individual interpretation.
In its response to Government’s care funding reform proposals, Care England suggests a number of ways to progress the plans, including:
- Engage with Care England and its members immediately
- Establish a national standard for provider cost collection and support the LGA/ADASS approach, to devise a cost collection template for its local authority members, that Care England can help shape and support
- Commit to funding to support a national funding roll out
- Implement the fair cost of care and the care cap to provider funding.
Care England CEO Professor Martin Green said:“Care England has expressed support for the principles underpinning the Government’s direction of travel, namely choice, control, quality, fairness, and accessibility for those at the centre of the system. Integral to this is establishing a fair rate for care [and a] system that promotes fairness for the individual, the taxpayer, the local authority, the NHS and the provider.”
