Care England has submitted evidence to the House of Lords Select Committee on Life Beyond COVID-19 and the need for social care reform.
COVID-19 has demonstrated the interdependence of the health and social care system and the organisations that operate across the system.
The pandemic has acted as a catalyst for change by facilitating new relationships between primary and social care organisations.
The CQC must move to promote these new relationships by moving to a system-based approach.
Professor Martin Green OBE, chief executive of Care England, says: “The pandemic has shown us that the social care workforce is the sector’s greatest resource.
“There is a need to recognise the efforts of health and care professionals as a whole nation.
“This impetus for change needs to be harnessed, not forgotten, in order to facilitate a fully integrated health and social care system”.
