For the fourth year in a row, care homes across the UK are encouraging their local communities to join them for a day of celebration.
Care Home Open Day takes place on Friday and is growing in popularity as more and more care homes realise the importance of developing lasting relationships with their local communities and dispelling myths by showcasing what good care homes look like.
The day reinforces the fantastic work being done in care homes across the UK and helps to highlight that care homes are doing great things 365 days a year!
In a recent survey carried out for Care Home Open Day, 43% of those surveyed said they think it is important for there to be regular activities in a care home and 51% believe making new friends in a care home is important for their loved ones as they start a new chapter in their lives.
This year’s suggested theme of “Celebration” has really engaged care home residents, their families and friends, as well as staff and local people, to come up with creative and innovative ideas on what they will do on the day. With everything from celebrating the Queen’s 90th Birthday, the lives of residents, to a gardening competition, musical sessions, and dancing galore – there is a huge variety of activities going on.
