Care homes to benefit from £1,000 vegetarian charity grant

UK charity Vegetarian for Life (VfL) is making available grants of up to £1,000 for care homes that recognise the importance of veganism/vegetarianism for older people.

The Vegetarian for Life grant is open to care settings that provide support to one or more older people who are vegan/vegetarian. Applications can be submitted by anyone working or volunteering within the care setting and are also welcomed from others who provide ongoing support, such as family and friends.

Applications should demonstrate engagement between the older person(s), care staff, families and/or the wider community and should enhance the life of the older person(s) in relation to them being vegan/vegetarian. Applicants are also encouraged to consider ideas beyond the ‘food on the plate’, such as animal welfare and rights, the environment, food quality, production, and sustainability.

VfL also offers schemes to support excellence in vegetarian/vegan care catering.
