Care UK has moved a step closer to delivering a new £9.4 million care home in Cheadle with a topping out ceremony held on site to mark the latest construction milestone.
Representatives from Stockport Council and construction partner GB Building Solutions joined forces with Care UK to place the final capping on the flat roof of the home situated within Abney Park, which when complete will offer places for 80 people.
The new Abney Court is on track to create up to 100 jobs and will welcome its first residents in early 2015.
Justin Daley, construction project manager at Care UK, said: “The new care home, which is currently under construction, represents a major investment for Care UK and when complete it will boost the provision of quality residential care for older people living in the area.”
Martin Smout, executive chairman of GB Building Solutions, said: “Our team fully understands the importance of sensitive design to create a quality home that will meet the needs of both employees and residents.”
The purpose built home will offer a range of services for older people, including residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, as well as palliative, respite and end of life care.
The home will feature a cinema room and a hairdressing salon. The layout has been designed to support the formation of close-knit communities – a factor which has proven particularly helpful for people living with dementia, who benefit from calm and familiar surroundings.
