Care home construction specialist Stepnell has been awarded a £6.6 million contract to design and build a four-storey, 81-bed care home as part of a larger residential scheme, developed by sister company Aspen Retirement in the heart of Bromsgrove.
Working with Care UK, Stepnell will build the care home on the former site of Bromsgrove’s Drill Hall. The home will be divided into four nursing groups each equipped with resident lounges, dining rooms and self-contained accommodation.
A range of communal facilities include a hair salon, café, family rooms, a small cinema and laundrette. Residents will also be able to enjoy the outdoors in a communal garden.
“We’re delighted to be Care UK’s chosen construction partners in the delivery of this high-specification care facility which will bring many benefits to the local community including up to 300 tradesmen working on the construction project, through the involvement of our local supply chain,” says David Berry, Stepnell contracts manager.
Andrew Brett, project manager at Care UK, says: “The impressive development will provide a luxurious and quality environment, focused on personalised care for older people in Bromsgrove and the surrounding area. As such, we required a construction partner with experience in this calibre of building and Stepnell was the perfect choice.”
