Care leaders get ready for Covid Inquiry care module

Care England, the National Care Forum and the Homecare Association will be among the core participants in the care module of the Covid Inquiry.

Tomorrow (Tuesday 19 March) will see the Inquiry hold the first preliminary hearing for its investigation into the Care Sector across the UK (Module 6)

Module 6  will examine the impact of the pandemic on the publicly and privately funded adult social care sector in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It will make recommendations on the consequences of government decision-making – including restrictions imposed – on those living and working within the care sector. It will also consider the steps taken in adult care and residential homes to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and examine the capacity of the adult care sector to respond to the pandemic. Module six opened on 12 December 2023.

A preliminary hearing is a legal hearing which considers procedural issues relating to the conduct of future public hearings and the Inquiry’s investigations. There will be submissions from the Counsel to the Inquiry and core participants to help prepare for the public hearings, where evidence is heard.

A livestream of the preliminary hearing is available via the Inquiry’s YouTube channel
