GPs asked to honour COVID jab visits on bank holiday Monday

NHS England has set out its expectation that GP surgeries will continue scheduled COVID-19/flu care home vaccination appointments on Monday 19 September. This has now been confirmed as a Bank Holiday to note the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

GP practices will be contractually able to close on this day for their core services as it is a confirmed bank holiday. GPs have been asked to consider rescheduling pre-booked appointments and to enable patients to receive prescriptions, especially repeat medicines.
