Routine Covid testing for care home discharge patients to remain, despite Scottish ‘pause’

Routine COVID-19 testing will remain for patients awaiting discharge into care homes in Scotland and other settings, the Scottish Government has advised.

In all other settings, including GPs, routine COVID testing for symptomatic team members will end, and self-isolation rules will be replaced with the general “stay at home” guidance that the general population currently follows.

This advice is to stay at home where possible until the infection becomes asymptomatic.

In a circular, NHS Scotland explains that the change recognises that Scotland continues to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic and has entered a calmer phase of the pandemic.
