Details have begun to emerge of the new CQC inspection strategy.
From July, and following a pilot, the CQC has announced that there will be monthly desk reviews of providers services, with sampling (via inspection) to check findings.
Where reviews suggest risk, there will be immediate inspection.
In a statement chief inspectors explain that the new strategy will enable improved monitoring through more targeted activity. It will also bring information together in one place for inspection teams, supporting decision-making and providing a more up-to-date view of risk for people who use services.
CQC has also published a protocol that provides a process for health and social care regulators to share information and raise concerns.
