CQC publishes first report under new assessment framework

The CQC has published its first report under the new assessment framework.

The report of Abigail Court (domiciliary care) assessed the following quality statements:

  • Safeguarding
  • Involving people to manage risks
  • Safe and effective staffing
  • Independence, choice and control,
  • Equity in experiences and outcomes

As well not assessing all 34 quality assessments, none of the statements assessed were selected from the well-led domain, usually a key area of interest to CQC, according to analysis by the Access Group.

Of the other key questions, CQC assessed three from Safe (safeguarding, involving people to manage risks and safe and effective staffing, one from Caring, (independence, choice and control) and one from Responsive (equity in experiences and outcomes).

The report is much shorter and appears on the website as an HTML, rather than a PDF document. CQC has changed terminology from ‘inspection’ to ‘assessment’ report.

Access also notes that the report is easier to read, more accessible and provides a succinct summary of the key points (and scores), people, families, commissioners and others may need to make informed decisions about care services. HTML makes it easier to read on phones, tablets etc.
