The CQC’s new operational teams and care home regulation ‘portal’ are expected to be up and running in late 2023.
In its latest trade association meeting, the CQC sets out its revised timeline for its new regulatory approach. This suggests that the new provider portal will go live with statutory notifications in the summer ahead of the full launch in late 2023.
Also at this time, CQC’s new operational teams will become active. These will be based around four geographic areas or ‘networks’ and will be led by an operations manager, and made up of inspectors, assessors, regulatory coordinators and regulatory officers.
CQC regulatory chiefs acknowledge that delayed implementation may be frustrating to senior care home staff, who may have already prepared for an imminent new methodology.
The CQC has also outlined that there will be a dedicated resource to re-rate for improvement in social care settings, with the ambition to undertake 300 re-ratings by end of March 2023.
