Derbyshire firm wins biggest contract

Wildgoose Construction has won its highest value contract to date – a £7.52 million deal to build a care home in the Midlands.

The Ashover-based firm is due to start work on the project, in Aldridge, Walsall, this month. An existing building will be demolished to make way for the care home and work is scheduled to be completed in 56 weeks. This will be Wildgoose’s fifth project for the Surrey-based Restful Homes Group, having completed care homes in Lichfield, Stratford, Cannock and Birmingham.

Dementia care will be on offer at the 71-bedrooms home. It will have domed roof lights and a roof-top garden, which will include bowling and putting greens.

Tim Walker, managing director of Wildgoose Construction, said: "These new care homes incorporate some state-of-the-art concepts in the world of elderly living and have been designed to ensure that the residents enjoy the day-to-day activities and living accommodation provided by the Group. It is particularly pleasing to be working again with such an enlightened client and a design team that understands the client’s aspirations and quality requirements.”
