Medicine suppliers have been asked to carry out a risk assessment on the impact of coronavirus on their business and to retain existing stockpiles of medical supplies, as the coronavirus continues to impact on flight and rail travel.
Supplies of some medicines are already stockpiled following the contingency measures put in place ahead of Brexit. None of the current medicine shortages in the UK are linked to the situation in China.
There is no need for the public or NHS to stockpile. This could aggravate problems elsewhere in the supply chain if they emerge.
