Dom care adds providers at the expense of residential in Scotland

Domiciliary care services have increased at the expense of residential care in Scotland over the previous 12 months, analysis of Care Inspectorate Scotland data shows

Comparison of The Care Inspectorate Statistical Summary Report for Quarter 3 of 2021/22 with that for 2020/21 shows a 3.2 per cent increase (34 registered providers) in  care at home services to 1,098, while care home services for older people declined by 12 providers to 801 (1.5 per cent).

Other increases in provider numbers were also seen in the housing support sector (23, 2.2 per cent).

In care home services, there were increases in services for mental health problems, and for children & young people.
