Advice for managers in England dealing with unvaccinated care home staff has been published by the DHSC.
Redeployment: Managers should explore all options to redeploy staff who cannot demonstrate proof of vaccination or exemption against COVID-19. This could include moving staff to an alternative role for which vaccination is not required. Staff should not assume that redeployment will be possible.
Dismissal: Staff who are unable to provide proof of vaccination or exemption should note that the regulations may provide a fair reason for dismissal if you are not vaccinated or medically exempt.
Care homes concerned about maintaining safe staffing levels should speak to their local authority.
CQC will be responsible for enforcement of the COVID-19 vaccination regulations, which come into force from November 11.
The regulations apply to all people working in English care homes, including those who normally live in devolved UK nations.
