Care England makes three ‘asks’ of local authorities on behalf of care homes

Care England has asked decision-makers in local authorities to take action to mitigate the financial pressures facing care home providers.

In an open letter to chief executives, chief finance officers and directors of adult social care services, the provider organisation makes three key requests:

  • To permit VAT restructuring for all care providers locally and to connect with Care England to discuss how this can be implemented for your authority across all care providers.
  • To discuss the cost of Care Friends licences for local providers to support social care recruitment and retention
  • To consider making or maintaining payments to providers from the start of the month, more promptly, or in advance.
