Five visitors and more trips out for care homes in England

From Monday 17 May care home residents in England will be able to name five visitors and take more trips outside the home, without having to self-isolate when they return.

As COVID restrictions relax, care home residents can have a maximum of two visitors at any one time or on any given day.

Visits can also resume 14 days after the last positive case within the home- reduced from 28 days – assuming no Variants of Concern (VOCs) are identified.

Outside the home, medical appointments, trips to the park, beach or garden, or visits to a workplace or educational setting,  and day centres have been added to the list of activities that do not require self-isolation on their return.
