Care provider Sanctuary Care has made around 50 appointments to young people under the Government’s Kickstart Scheme.
Under the scheme, young people aged 18-24 years old will be offered a six-month placement as either a wellbeing or maintenance assistant. In total 300 placements are available.
As part of the scheme, participants will be offered CV writing support, interview coaching and training to further develop their digital and communication skills.
Sarah Clarke-Keuhn, Group Director – Sanctuary Care, said the hope was that these placements will lead to long-term employment opportunities.
The move comes as Government statistics reveal rising unemployment among young people.
