Any resident, staff member or visitor who suffers an accident or sudden illness in a care home can now be stabilised until an ambulance arrives thanks to a simple piece of oxygen first aid equipment from Lifesaver Technology.
The Devon-based company has been selling its safe to use equipment to hotels and industry for some time but it is now targeting the residential care home sector where emergency care provision can be vital.
Lifesaver Technology managing director Jeff Gregory says wherever and whenever a medical incident occurs, the time between onset and ambulance arrival is critical. “Emergency oxygen equipment has proven to be the most effective means to keep patients stable until that help arrives,” he says.
Jeff believes the company’s easy to use emergency oxygen should be viewed in the same way by care home providers as a fire extinguisher and defibrillator.
“This equipment is set at a safe level, unlike regular kits, providing a supplemental supply for up to an hour, and means someone can be helped straightaway. Hopefully a care home will never need to use it, but it is there, ready, just in case.”
The emergency oxygen equipment is rented from Lifesaver Technology for £239 per year, with free first aid training included as part of the package.
