Scottish regulator shares care home inspection guidance

The Scottish Care Inspectorate has published guidance setting out its inspection process for care homes.

It has also set out plans to develop self-evaluation toolkits and methodologies to support registered services to undertake self-evaluation during 2023/24.

The new guidance also explains grading; a grading of ‘excellent’ describes performance which is sector-leading and supports experiences and outcomes for people which are outstandingly high quality. There should be a demonstrable track record of innovation, effective practice and or very high quality performance across a wide range of activities, from which others could learn. There should be confidence that excellent performance is sustainable and that it will be maintained.
