Outstanding Society director Zoe Fry awarded OBE in first King’s birthday honours list

Outstanding Society founder and director Zoe Fry has been awarded an OBE (officer of the Order of the British Empire) medal in the first King’s birthday honours list. 

Fry received the medal and for services to social care and nursing. As well as founding The Outstanding Society, Fry has worked as a nurse in the sector, and as owner and operator of an award-winning and outstanding rated care home.

Commenting on the honour, Fry said: “It means so much to be able to provide a voice for the sector and accept this prestigious honour on behalf of so many amazing colleagues who make a difference to people’s lives every day”.

Commenting on Fry’s achievement, Deborah Sturdy, chief nurse for adult social care, commented: “Fry has tirelessly promoted social care nursing, demonstrating her inclusive approach with passion and commitment and helped many others flourish in their work. She is truly deserving of this national recognition.”

Also awarded an OBE is Michael King, the local government and social care ombudsman.

Ann Johnson, director of nursing at care home operator Risedale Estates Ltd, was awarded an MBE (member of the Order of the British Empire) for services to social care.
