New guide helps carers to access support

To coincide with Carers Week, June 11-17,older people’s older people’s charity Independent Age has published the free information guide ‘Caring for someone’. This contains information on rights and the benefits, services and support available to carers.

According to Independent Age, up to 35 per cent of carers were unaware of their benefits eligibility.

‘Caring for someone’ is also available to order by calling 0800 319 6789.

Every day, another 6,000 people take on a caring responsibility and, by 2037, it’s anticipated that the number of carers in the UK will increase to nine million.
