Nursing homes more resilient than residential

Nursing homes and nursing beds are less vulnerable to closure than residential beds, a Parliamentary answer has shown.

In response to a question on closures from North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb, the Department of Health and Social Care has provided the following information:

Data published by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) can be used to calculate the net change in the number of nursing and residential homes. The data are summarised in the following tables.

Residential homes

Notes: We have classified homes that are registered for both residential and nursing care as nursing homes.
