NCA chair Nadra Ahmed receives second honour in New Year’s Honours list

Nadra Ahmed is among the social care leaders to receive a CBE in the King’s first New Year’s Honours.

Receiving the honour of Commanders of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the New Year Honours List 2023 for services to social care are:  

  • Nadra Ahmed (previously OBE Deputy Lieutenant) executive chair, National Care Association.
  • Professor Deborah Ann Sturdy OBE chief nurse for Adult Social Care, Department for Health and Social Care.  
  • Sarah Jane PICKUP OBE deputy chief executive, Local Government Association.

An OBE (Officers of the Order of the British Empire) was awarded to Andrea Street, deputy director, Welsh Government, for services to Health and Social Care in Wales

The only care home manager to receive an honour in this list was Martyn James Davies of Urmston Manor, Manchester, for services to care home residents in Manchester. Davies receives a BEM (Medallists of the Order of the British Empire, which is awarded  for meritorious actions by civilians or military personnel.
