PJ Care launches £22K car raffle to raise COVID19 vaccination rates

Specialist care provider PJ Care has launched a raffle to win a new £22,000 Renault Clio E-Tech, to encourage staff to fully-vaccinated against COVID-19.

At PJ Care the average carer salary is just over £20,000. Company chairman Neil Russell says that investment in their training, overtime and the costs of recruiting their replacement make the car prize worthwhile.

He says: “If this initiative gets just one person to have the vaccine and stay
in their job, we will have saved money.”

Currently, 85 per cent of PJ Care’s 600 staff have been fully vaccinated.
Russell said: “We have informed and encouraged our staff throughout, and it will pain us to lose any of our team.”

Staff who’ve yet to be vaccinated need to have their first jab by Thursday 16 September, in time for their second dose before the government
deadline. Russell says that with time running out, they had to act fast.
“Recruiting staff in this sector is already difficult. In this context, a new car is a small price to pay – indeed, it is actually an investment rather than a cost.”
