Government target of 50,000 new nurses needed as shortfall of nurses will impact adult social care

New guidance for nursing home placements

Skills for Care has published new guidance for nursing placements in care homes.

The guidance covers the practicalities and advantages of hosting a student nurse placement and insight from universities and care providers with experience of a nursing placement.

Professor Deborah Sturdy, chief nurse for adult social care, says: “Lived experience is critical to understanding what it means to be a social care nurse.”

The guidance is published in collaboration with the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and Professor Sturdy.
