RBL care home manager awarded MBE in NY Honours

Jo-Anne Wilson, manager at Royal British Legion care home Galanos House Care Home, is the only care home manager to receive an award in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours 2022.

Wilson was awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to veterans at the Southam, Warwickshire home.

Wilson has also been recognised by the RBL’s Reward and Recognition scheme, launched during its centenary. In the scheme, Wilson was nominated for her exceptional leadership during the pandemic, doing whatever was necessary to keep residents as safe as possible. RBL staff, families and friends applauded Wilson for her innovative ways of maintaining contact between residents and loved ones, dealing with significant staff shortages, providing nursing care personally and staying in the homes themselves.

Awarded Officers of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the New Year’s Honours list for services to social care are:

  • Daniel Hayes, chief executive, The Orders of St John Care Trust
  • Sharon Tracey Davies, chief executive, Hertfordshire Care Providers Association.
