RCN polls nurses’ views on working conditions

The survey seeks to gather first-hand experiences of members working on the frontline of nursing.

It asks about the staffing levels during their last shift or day worked, the impact they had on them, the care they were able to provide, and how they felt when they got home from work.

The survey is a repeat of the 2017 RCN workforce survey which attracted over 30,000 responses in just two weeks. It aims to create an updated picture of the conditions members are working in, to influence decision-makers about what needs to happen to support nursing staff and improve patient care.

Dame Donna Kinnair, RCN chief executive & general secretary, said: “We want to hear the personal experiences of nursing staff, wherever they work, so we can provide a real insight into what it’s like providing care in our health and social care system today.”

This survey is anonymous and should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. It closes on 16 February.

The results will be shared with members at RCN Congress 2020 being held in Liverpool 7–11 June.
