Renaissance Care revamps shifts, pay and benefits to support workforce

In response to the care workforce crisis in Scotland, 16-home provider Renaissance Care is offering new benefits including flexible working, a pay review across all roles, and a health and wellbeing package.

Shifts lasting 12 hours will now be replaced with a flexible working pattern based on staff requirements and office staff will have the option to move to a four-day working week.

The group will also implement a minimum 5 per cent pay increase for all staff and has committed to becoming a Scottish Living Wage Employer.

Other benefits include free sanitary items in workplace facilities, free access to fitness classes, upgraded staff areas, menopause training and initiatives to provide an inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ staff and residents

In addition, the care home operator is currently investing £500,000 on administrative systems to reduce paperwork.

Louise Barnett, managing director at Renaissance Care, said: “Operationally, the care sector has always functioned in a certain way but now, as we begin to recover from the pandemic, we need to modernise.”
