Scottish care representatives welcome adult social care review

Scottish Care has described the vision articulated by the Independent Review of Adult Social Care in Scotland as “a brave and a bright one” that will demand considerable fiscal investment.

In a statement, Care Scotland chief executive Dr Donald Macaskill calls for more work to be undertaken on the issue of paying for residential care. He said: “We continue to believe that it is both iniquitous and discriminatory that depending on the health condition you have, dementia or cancer, the expense for the care you require to live is unfairly levelled.”

However, on the whole Scottish Care has welcomed the review, describing it as “a very positive step towards achieving the national, cross-sectoral and cross-party consensus required to achieve the changes required for a positive social care future”.
