Welsh care homes lack confidence in self-evaluation, the regulator finds

Adult care home managers lack of confidence in self-evaluation, Care Inspectorate Wales has revealed in an update on self-evaluation in adult care services.

Validation of self-evaluation in care homes will be tested from July 1, and in some care homes for adults, the regulator will assess and report on a service’s self-evaluation of the core assurances during the usual inspection.

In a poll, almost nine in ten care managers (87%) said they lacked confidence about this model of regulation.

Care Inspectorate Wales will run an in-person workshop on self-evaluation in Perth on Wednesday 29 May 2024.  Registration is online.
