Care homes can now hire hoists from Southern Care Maintenance (SCM) while they wait for their equipment to be repaired or replaced.
The Kent-based company supplies and maintains many popular brand names including the Oxford range, Birdie range and stand-aids.
Hoists are hired by the week and while on hire, SCM’s engineers will carry out free LOLER testing on the hired equipment and SCM also offer a discount on any new hoists ordered from them.
“People handling is a crucial area in any care home because it is important to avoid injury to the resident or the carer,” says director David Knight. “Back injuries can cause staff to be off sick while the care of residents suffers if there are fewer hoists because one is broken. Hiring is a solution where repairs can be delayed if parts have to be ordered from Europe and may be affected by Brexit.”
SCM was established in 1987 as a specialist independent company for the service and maintenance of fire alarms, safety and nursing equipment for the health care and leisure sectors.
The company works closely with local charities and this year it is supporting Demelza Hospice Care for Children.
