The new world of nurse call systems

By Barry Vacher, marketing manager Courtney Thorne

In this new COVID-19 and digital world how is technology changing nurse call systems?

Today’s nurse call devices are ‘smart’ enough to identify a resident in need.  A resident ‘connected’ with a wearable device can be monitored for their movement, location, heart rate, sleep, blood pressure, etc, without the need for intrusive, often unsocial physical monitoring.

If an emergency occurs, the nurse call system will, of course, summon help. However, modern technology also now records, stores and reports critical data.

Digital care planning and medication solutions have helped to produce paperless care that is supported by more accurate and timely information – and not just on those being cared for. Modern tech now supports those doing the care; gone are the days of arguments with staff members about forgetting to “fob in/fob out”.
