Nurses working in social care may face tighter post-registration standards.
Nursing regulator the Nursing and Midwifery Council has set up a steering group to review the post-registration education and development standards for specialist nurses such as those working with adults or people with learning disabilities.
In a consultation document Shaping the future, stakeholders identified the review as “a priority” for nurses holding Specialist Community and Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) and Specialist Practice Qualifications (SPQs).
The steering group has held its first meeting to review post-registration education and development in these fields.
