UK develops first adult social care innovation network

The UK is to establish its first research and innovation network for adult social care in a bid to support evidence-based innovation and build workforce capacity and skills in the sector.

Supported by a six-year £15 million funding package, IMPACT (Improving Adult Care Together) aims to bring together insight from academic, policy and practice partners, including key UK care representative organisations, and users of adult social care services.

IMPACT will start its initial engagement work from 1 June, by defining its remit via a programme including surveys and interactive sessions, and delivering objectives from 2023.

IMPACT is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), part of UK Research and Innovation, and the Health Foundation, and will be headed by director, Jon Glasby, professor of health and social care at the University of Birmingham.
