Updated COVID-19 guidance from Health Protection Scotland

Health Protection Scotland has updated its COVID-19 guidance for  residential settings to include shielding advice, management of pregnant workers and contacting GPs

The guide refers staff who are pregnant or their managers to the website of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.The guidance also advises on the following:

  • Infection Prevention and Control
  • Isolation 
  • Staff Cohorting (working in dedicated teams)
  • Hand Hygiene 
  • Respiratory and Cough Hygiene – ‘Catch it, bin it, kill it’
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Care Equipment
  • Environmental Decontamination 
  • Staff Uniforms
  • Safe Management of Linen
  • Waste
  • Visitors
  • Transfer from community settings 
  • Transfer from hospital
  • Caring for someone who has died
