Vida Healthcare invests in new training centre

The UK’s leading provider of specialist dementia care, Vida Healthcare, has opened a 2,500 sq ft training centre in Harrogate to support its employees’ career progression and attract new talent.

Since 2019, Vida Healthcare has grown from 250 to 600 employees, and the initiative follows the expansion of the company’s bespoke training department. The building will be open to the public during recruitment fairs. The next recruitment open day is on 5 October.

The company wanted a permanent base for its training arm, which focuses on promoting lifelong learning so staff can move forward in their careers and become dementia ambassadors.

There are a range of courses, from the induction programme for new starters and Care Certificate, to specialist training courses and apprenticeships from Level 2 to Level 6. There is also a dedicated app which provides regular updates on news, training courses and job opportunities.

Career progression through the training department can be secured by any staff member, from carers and chefs, through to home managers.

One success story is Sharon Oldfield who started working at Vida Healthcare as a receptionist in 2013. After undertaking various training courses through Vida Academy moved up the ranks until her promotion to home manager of Vida Court in 2021.

“We’re always on the lookout for new ways that we can invest in our staff, and people interested in a career in social care, and provide them with career development opportunities,” said Vida Healthcare managing director James Rycroft.
