A review of funding for social care will aim to reduce admissions to care homes, the Welsh Government has said in its Strategy for an ageing society: delivery plan.
Among the plan’s four aims is the five-year pledge to invest in intermediate care settings such as extra care flats and re-enablement ‘step down’ accommodation to prevent admission to a residential care setting.
There is also a promise to review social care funding.
The plan has four main aims:
- Enhance wellbeing
- Improve local services and environments
- Build and retain people’s own capability
- Tackle age related poverty.
