Caring in Welsh award now open for nominations

Nominations are now open for the 2023 Caring in Welsh award.

The Caring in Welsh award recognises and celebrates workers who make a positive difference to people’s lives by providing care and support through the medium of Welsh.

The award, which is run and Social Care Wales and sponsored by WeCare Wales, is open to any paid workers who work in social care. Nominations can be made by the public, employers and care team members.

The nominee can be a fluent Welsh speaker, know some Welsh or be a learner, as long as they use the language when they provide care and support.

The finalists and their nominators will be invited to a lunchtime celebratory event at the National Eisteddfod on the Llŷn Peninsula on 10 August.

Social Care Wales chief executive Sue Evans said: “This award will showcase those workers who are providing excellent care through the medium of Welsh… and raise awareness of the need for more people who can speak the language to work in care.”

If you’d like to nominate a worker, all you have to do is fill out a nomination form, letting us know why the worker deserves to be recognised and the difference they make to the lives of the people they support through their use of Welsh.

The closing date for nominations is 10am on 26 June 2023.
