Welsh care homes set to lift visitor restrictions

Restrictions on the overall number of visitors to care homes in Wales are expected to be lifted next week, returning first minister Mark Drakeford has said.

In a first speech to the Welsh Assembly following the Welsh elections on May 6, he said that new more liberal visiting rights would be announced on Monday 24 May.

The new programme for government will also set out steps towards a fair deal for care, including paying the real living wage for all those working in the care sector.

  • The CQC has also warned care homes in England against implementing blanket bans to visiting. Being able to see loved ones is incredibly important to wellbeing; The individual must be at the centre of any decisions made, the CQC says.
