Welsh care staff urged to speak up

Care staff in Wales are being urged to “speak up” about excellent care – and care that does not meet the required standard.

In a joint statement, Care Inspectorate Wales and Healthcare Inspectorate Wales call on staff to be vigilant to avoidable harm.

Gillian Baranski, chief inspector, Care Inspectorate Wales, and Alun Jones, interim chief executive, Healthcare Inspectorate Wales, said: “Speaking up is an essential element of a safe culture and should be ‘business as usual’ for everyone working in care, regardless of their role.”

Among the ways to report concerns about people’s safety and well-being are local improvement or risk management processes, discussion with line managers or leaders, or contacting Care Inspectorate Wales via its website or phone: 0300 7900 126..

“This is your professional responsibility.”
